Emergency in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Together, we can bring life and hope.
‘Take my child! I want him to stay alive!’
This is a heart-rending cry that a mother made to one of our teams last week in a refugee camp in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Violence and insecurity have reached unbearable levels in this region, which has already been ravaged by conflict for many years.
The city of Goma is only recovering from violent fighting, and some districts are now without water, food, or electricity. Living conditions are deteriorating extremely rapidly, many people are injured, and we now fear cholera and Mpox epidemics.
We urgently need to intervene now: we need medicines, water treatment equipment, and therapeutic food to treat child malnutrition.
We cannot look away in the face of so much suffering! These children, these families, need your help to survive.
Together, we can bring life and hope.
