Sudden collapse in Syria

Sudden collapse in Syria
The sudden collapse of the regime follows 13 years of conflict which has had devastating effects on communities in Syria. Deadly earthquakes in 2023 and significant displacement since November 2024, first from the conflict in Lebanon and then due to internal political shifts in Syria, have compounded humanitarian needs.
Medair has been in Syria since 2015. Our commitment to support Syrian people has never failed. We are determined to help rebuild by restoring health services, safe water sources, and shelters for those in desperate need.
Our offices are opening again and our teams are resuming work.
We are particularly concerned about:
- One million people (mainly women and children) who have been displaced since November 28th in harsh winter conditions.
- Healthcare facilities that are now overwhelmed and lack medicines, supply and staff
- The dramatic inflation that severely impacts most vulnerable people. For example, the price of bread alone has risen by 900% in Idleb and Aleppo.
