Role Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership across all logistics operations, including supply chain, procurement, and continuous improvement. They ensure that relevant information is accurately reported, and that accountability and compliance requirements are met in line with Medair’s policies and external regulations. Additionally, the Logistics Manager is instrumental in representing Medair externally, ensuring legal compliance, leading a team, and building the capacity of logistics staff through training and mentorship.

Project Overview

Medair is currently implementing Health & Nutrition projects in Sudan, with the intention to expand WASH, Shelter/NFI and Cash programming.

Workplace & Conditions

Location: Port Sudan Base/Country office, Sudan, with frequent visits to project locations.  As security allows, the country base may transition to Khartoum, in which case this role would be based in Khartoum. Work conditions: This is a country programme position, and the working and living conditions may differ significantly from those you have previously encountered. To help you better understand what to expect in this location, the Relief Orientation Course (ROC) - will provide more information about working and living in this locations.

Responsibilities

• Logistics Management: Provide the technical oversight to ensure proper supply chain management practices and procedures are in place and maintained according to Medair standards; support the Medair supply chain system, ensure compliance with procedures for both local and international sourcing and procurement

• Staff Management: Manage and motivate staff with integrity and foresight, and in accordance with HR procedures and policies to ensure that they maintain the highest standards of accountability and professionalism. This includes recruitment, appraisal, objective setting, performance review, producing development plans, determination of training needs.

• Security Management: Security management plays a crucial role in protecting Medair assets, personnel and in delivering services safely to beneficiaries across the programming locations.

• Administration: Meet the Logistics operations, government liaison related administrative requirements of Medair, donors, local legislation, suppliers, contractors, employees and any other stakeholders, so that the functions run efficiently, effectively and with integrity.

• Quality Management: Ensure the proper use of Medair systems (including logistics, financial and HR systems) and operating procedures, so that Medair Sudan meets compliance requirements and guidelines are followed.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:

• University degree in Logistics or related subject or equivalent professional/technical qualification

• Proficient in English (spoken and written); Arabic language desirable

• 2 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant profession

• 2 years of supervisory management experience

• Experience in the NGO sector strongly desired

• Able to oversee multiple tasks, prioritising and delegating as required
