As crises deepen and aid dwindles, millions face impossible choices. Yet joy remains possible.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, a child weakened by hunger can find strength again through life-saving nutrition care. In Ukraine, a family whose home was damaged by bombing can rebuild and find safety once more. Now, a new crisis demands our urgent attention: Sudan and Darfur.
The UN's humanitarian chief, Tom Fletcher, calls it "the new global epicentre of human suffering." Violence is escalating. Famine—potentially the worst since Ethiopia in the 1980s—is spreading. Health services have collapsed, and children are paying the heaviest price.
Yet even in Darfur's darkness, there is light. Our mobile clinics reach the most isolated communities. Our nutrition programmes are treating thousands of severely malnourished children. Safe deliveries are being ensured. Lives are being saved.
But we must do more, and quickly, to save more lives.
Your generosity transforms despair into hope, hunger into nourishment, and fear into the joy of a safe home.
"This assistance has brought me hope and faith that kindness still exists," says Antonyna from Ukraine.
We are acting, and so can you.
From fading to flourishing: Donsi's journey back to joy
In Ituri Province, behind the rolling hills of eastern DR Congo, young Donsi was slipping away. Weakened by severe malnutrition, he had lost his spark—the joyful spirit his mother Saba knew so well. Desperate, she walked over two hours to reach the Buba Health Centre, hoping Medair could save her son.
Donsi's condition was critical. The Medair team immediately arranged his transfer to a Stabilization Centre, where he received intensive treatment with therapeutic milk and specialized care—all costs covered. Today, Donsi is thriving. For Saba, it feels like a rebirth: "Medair is like an angel sent by God. I am filled with joy seeing my son regain his strength." Donsi's story mirrors that of thousands of children across DR Congo. In 2024 alone, Medair treated 25,279 children for severe acute malnutrition. Yet countless more are waiting for their chance to survive and rediscover joy. Read more about Donsi's journey here

Rebuilding home, restoring hope: Antonyna's story of resilience
At 88 years old, Antonyna has weathered many storms. She built her home in eastern Ukraine with her own hands decades ago, raised her children there, and found peace in her garden. But one night, bombing shattered that peace. Drones struck nearby, leaving her home damaged and her sense of safety destroyed. "I did not know if I was alive or not," she recalls.
Through Medair's Cash for Repair programme, Antonyna received direct financial support to restore her home—and with it, her dignity. This approach empowers families to actively rebuild their lives while supporting the local economy. "This assistance has brought me hope and faith that kindness still exists," Antonyna shares. She is one of 68,304 people Medair assisted with shelter in 2024. With an estimated 6.9 million people requiring shelter and humanitarian aid in 2025, families like Antonyna's need your support now more than ever. Read more about Antonyna's journey here
