Role Summary   

As a key member of the Digital Solutions and Engineering (DSE) team, this role is critical for Medair’s global data architecture and includes building and optimizing the data and data pipeline architecture, integrations, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. Including providing support in solving technical issues, sourcing data across the organisation as well as collaborating closely with the Business Intelligence Specialists.

Project Overview   

The DSE is a geographically disbursed team responsible for master data management, integrations, and business intelligence. They develop and support a range of standardised information management tools for use within Medair. Global ITS provides centralised governance, strategy, direction, innovation, and support for Medair’s use of information technologies.

Workplace & Conditions 

Global Support Office (GSO) position based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Swiss or eligible EU citizens, or those with a valid work permit for Switzerland.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, monitor and maintain data integration solutions using tools like Qlik Talend.  

- Build and maintain infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various sources using SQL or similar technologies.

- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements and develop analytics tools to provide actionable insights into key business metrics.

- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, understand their data integration needs and develop solutions, translate business requirements into logical, component-based technical designs.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies  

- Degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field  

- Excellent English (spoken and written); French skills desirable.

- Advanced experience in SQL, System Integration, Data Analysis (APIs, data modelling), Programming in SQL, JavaScript, Java & Python; Advanced Qlik Talend experience  preferred.

- Experience in developing processes and creating end-user documentation; understanding of project management tools and steps.

- Experience working in the Humanitarian or Development sectors.
