The needs
Afghanistan is one of the world’s most complex and longstanding humanitarian crises. Prolonged drought and natural disasters, economic crisis, and the lasting effects of conflict have kept millions of people in a cycle of need. Families often face displacement, don’t have enough food to eat, young children are malnourished, and people lack access to health care, safe drinking water, and sanitation.

Our difference
In 2022, we ran 47 mobile clinics in Afghanistan, reaching thousands of people with life-sustaining treatment for them and their families. We screened over 150,000 children and mothers for malnutrition and provided therapeutic nutrition treatment to help them regain their health. We also provided health, hygiene, and nutrition recommendations for thousands of people to help them survive this crisis.

Two years after Afghanistan’s de facto authorities took over the capital, Kabul, the humanitarian situation in the country is critical. Despite fast-receding international assistance, Medair continues to assist those who need it the most, as it has done since 1996 in Afghanistan.
