Ongoing Emergency
Lebanon is struggling to accommodate the growing number of displaced people. The country already hosts 1.5 million Syrian refugees. Prior to the recent airstrikes, the country was already grappling with 110,000 internally displaced people from the south of Lebanon.

A glimpse into Lebanon

More refugees live in Lebanon per capita than any other country in the world. Nearly 9 out of 10 live in extreme poverty and shelter in tents or substandard buildings. But with a worsening economic crisis, Lebanon is being stretched beyond its capacity to cope. Now, communities that have been hosting Syrian refugees in Lebanon are facing a crisis all their own.

Medair's impact in Lebanon

Without the legal right to work, families are left with little options to earn a living. In response, Medair provides cash assistance to families unable to afford food, rent, medicines, and other basic needs. Cash assistance is a highly effective way to meet people’s basic needs, while giving them the flexibility and freedom to prioritise their needs and support local economies.
